Introduction
In
1999 graduate student Clair Fopeano assembled a notebook of homeschooling
information specifically designed for use by homeschooling families in Berks
County. In the years since, there has been an explosion in the number of
homeschooling families, an exponential growth in the services provided via the
Internet and a desire by many public libraries to have an updated, easy to use
resource for use by librarians and home educators. This
goal of this work is to provide access to general information on the steps to
initiate homeschooling in This
work is not meant to endorse any particular educational philosophy or method nor
is it designed to elevate home education above other methods of teaching. It has
been created to provide an organized resource for those seeking information on
this particular educational choice. It is not exhaustive in nature and by no
means covers every topic, method or philosophy of home education, let alone
every website and printed resource. If
